Wealth Creation
In this lesson, pupils develop their financial literacy by learning what shares are and how owning shares means owning part of a company. They explore how shares can give people a say in decisions and how shareholders can benefit if a company grows or lose money if it performs badly. Through discussion and real world examples, pupils consider the risks and responsibilities that come with investing in shares and learn that owning shares is about making informed financial choices, not guaranteed profit.

PSHE:
This lesson supports the National Curriculum for Mathematics in Number, including fractions and percentages, by enabling pupils to understand shares as parts of a whole and reason about proportional ownership. Pupils explore how owning a fraction or percentage of a company represents a portion of control, risk and potential gain, applying proportional thinking to real life financial contexts.
This lesson supports PSHE Economic Wellbeing objectives L10, L17 and L18 by helping pupils understand how companies are owned, recognise that ownership involves responsibility as well as opportunity, and develop awareness of how financial decisions can impact growth, fairness and wider communities.
