Credit & Risk
Pupils learn when in game spending involves real money and how to stay safe while gaming online. They explore how games make money through purchases such as credits and skins, and why small amounts of spending can add up quickly. Through discussion, analysis of persuasive techniques, and real life scenarios, pupils practise spotting risks, scams, and unsafe spending. The lesson reinforces that digital money is real money and helps pupils develop clear rules and strategies for safe gaming choices.

This lesson supports the National Curriculum for Mathematics in Number, including fractions, decimals and percentages, by enabling pupils to understand how small monetary amounts can accumulate over time. Pupils reason about parts of amounts, repeated spending and proportional thinking in real life digital money contexts, recognising how fractions or small percentages of spending can lead to significant totals.
This lesson supports PSHE Economic Wellbeing objectives L10, L13 and L16 by helping pupils understand that digital purchases involve real money, recognise persuasive techniques used in games, develop safe decision making when spending online, and understand the importance of seeking guidance and setting clear rules to protect themselves from financial harm.
