Wealth Creation

In this lesson, pupils explore how money can grow over time through effort, skills, and planning. Using the example of Joe Wicks, children learn that people do not usually earn large amounts of money straight away, and that income can increase as skills develop and experience grows. Pupils consider how learning, practising, and planning ahead can support future earning. The lesson helps children understand that money growth is often gradual and linked to effort rather than quick success.

PSHE:

This lesson supports the Year 1 National Curriculum for Mathematics by enabling pupils to sequence and explain processes using logical steps, including the journey from developing a skill to earning money over time. Pupils use simple flow diagrams and structured reasoning to show cause and effect, and apply mathematical thinking to real life contexts involving growth, effort and planning.

This lesson supports PSHE objectives L14, L15, L25 and L30 by helping pupils understand the link between effort, skills and future opportunities, recognise that money often grows over time through planning and perseverance, and develop awareness of aspiration, resilience and long term goal setting.
