In this lesson students will learn how saving compares with investing, why an emergency fund is essential, and how different types of investments carry different levels of risk. They’ll examine scenarios like cryptocurrency hype and small business backing to understand how emotions and social pressure can influence financial decisions. The aim is to help students recognise their own risk comfort level and make more thoughtful, informed choices about their money.

PSHE:

This lesson supports PSHE by helping pupils understand how to manage money responsibly and plan for future financial choices, including building an emergency fund and considering different forms of investment. Pupils assess the risks and benefits of saving versus investing, evaluate how emotions and social influence can affect financial decisions, and develop strategies to balance opportunity with risk when planning for long term financial security.
