In this lesson, students understand how saving isn’t just a “good habit” but a real-world safety tool. They explore risk, unexpected costs and the idea of financial resilience through relatable scenarios. By looking at how small saving decisions create protection over time, students learn why planning ahead gives them more control, more freedom and fewer nasty surprises in the future.
PSHE:
This lesson supports PSHE Living in the Wider World objectives LWW3 and LWW7 by helping pupils understand how to manage money responsibly and plan for future financial choices. Pupils assess the risks and benefits of saving versus spending, explore how financial decisions can increase or reduce risk, and develop awareness of emergency funds and financial resilience as strategies to protect themselves from unexpected costs.
