Wealth Creation

In this lesson, pupils explore the idea of wealth creation by learning what it means to save money. They discuss why someone might choose to wait instead of spending straight away and consider how saving helps them work towards something special in the future. Through simple scenarios, children begin to understand that saving requires patience and self control, and that keeping money over time can help them achieve bigger goals later.

PSHE:

This lesson supports the Year 1 National Curriculum for Mathematics by enabling pupils to use sequencing and simple reasoning to understand order and time, including before and after. Pupils solve problems involving time and waiting, and explain cause and effect in practical money contexts such as saving now to buy something later.

This lesson supports PSHE objectives L11 and L18 by helping pupils understand how financial choices can affect themselves and others over time, and by developing awareness of self control, delayed gratification and responsible decision making within family and social contexts.
