In this lesson, pupils explore the idea that wealth is created through work and contribution. They learn that helping others and taking on responsibilities can be a form of work, and that work is how people earn rewards and create value. By examining classroom jobs and interviewing staff about their roles, children begin to understand how different jobs contribute to the school community and how effort, responsibility, and service are linked to earning and belonging.
PSHE:
This lesson supports PSHE objectives L4, L5, L7 and L15 by helping pupils recognise the value of contribution within a community, understand that work involves responsibility and effort, explore how different jobs help others, and develop awareness of earning as a result of effort and participation. Pupils also reflect on how work supports belonging, fairness and respect within the school community.
