Credit & Risk

In this lesson, pupils are introduced to the ideas of credit and risk by learning how to keep money safe and make careful spending decisions. They explore how money can be lost if it is not looked after properly and discuss safe places to keep it. Through practical scenarios, children consider when they might need help from a trusted adult and begin to understand that checking before spending reduces risk and protects their money.

PSHE:

This lesson supports the Year 1 National Curriculum for Mathematics by enabling pupils to apply their understanding of money in practical contexts, including keeping money safe and making sensible spending decisions. Pupils use reasoning to explain safe and responsible actions when handling money and justify their choices through discussion.

This lesson supports PSHE objectives L13 and L22 by helping pupils understand how to keep money safe, recognise the importance of seeking guidance from trusted adults before spending, and develop awareness of responsible decision making to protect themselves from loss or harm.
