IN THIS LESSON
In this lesson students explore what it really means to be wealthy, moving beyond money to examine how mindset, values and emotions shape long term financial wellbeing. Through key ideas from Morgan Housel, they analyse the role of luck, comparison and behaviour in shaping success and reflect on how habits and emotional responses influence everyday financial choices.
Students then engage with the idea of wealth versus freedom, preparing short arguments that challenge them to consider whether success is best measured by possessions or by control over one’s time and decisions. They develop their thinking through discussion, counterarguments and real examples, recognising that financial outcomes are shaped as much by psychology as by income.
By the end students have a deeper understanding of how financial decisions are influenced by mindset, how emotional awareness supports smarter choices and how the definition of wealth can differ widely between individuals.
